With the Arab Spring and other wars and conflicts in the Greater Middle East, what does this mean for arch-?

ology in the region? I am unsure of its name but there was an archaeological building or wall (I believe it may have been a ziggurat but I am unsure) that was demolished in order for a U.S. base in the region - they blew up the wall I believe and used the rocks in an armed base wall. Are there other cases of such happening?
