Verizon DVR recording a series?

We just got Verizon Fios and I tried recording a television show using the series option and used keep up to 10 episodes. However, I used the keep up to 10 episodes option and 12 episodes are already taped. I only want to keep 10 episodes because about 5 shows of this show run per day. Any body else have the same problem or any suggestions? Thanks
